Legoland Windsor 

History

Legoland Windsor was built on the site of the previous Windsor Safari Park in Windsor, Berkshire, and opened in 1996. The park is split into 12 themed including: The Beginning, Imagination Centre, Miniland, Duplo Land, Heartlake City, LEGO City, Land of the Vikings, Kingdom of the Pharaohs, Pirates Shores, Knights Kingdom, Star Wars and Adventure Land. It is the largest Legoland Resort in the world in terms of area.

In 1998 the park saw the opening of the first roller coaster at the park, The Dragon made by WGH Transportation, In 1999 Legoland asked WGH Transportation to build another coaster this time a smaller version called dragons apprentice, WGH Transportation is only a small company and only went on to build 4 more coasters. To this day there is only 2 coasters at Legoland  

The Legoland Resorts are operated by the Merlin Entertainments group, The second largest entertainments company after Walt Disney Attractions

Legoland Windsor is currently the UK's busiest theme park with gate figures of  2,183,000 in 2016. Down just 3% from 2015.

In 2017 legoland opened a new area in its park Ninjago world which features a new interactive 4D ride and an old boat ride which was formally located in land of the vikings.
